Old Wives Tale #8 Drano Baby Gender Test

Baby Gender Test Accuracy 10%

the old wives tale goes. . .

It’s a good job pregnancy makes you pee a lot, as you will need another cup of urine to carry out the Drano gender test. If you didn’t know, Drano is a product for unclogging and cleaning drains.

As with the bleach gender test, please only perform the Drano gender test with extreme caution and in a well-ventilated environment. Making sure you keep an eye on it at all times.

So the tale suggests if you add small amounts in equal parts of morning urine and Drano to a clear container and mix them together, then depending on the color the mixture turns tells of the gender of your baby.

Depending on where you read or hear the myth,

If the mixture turns green or just darker then it’s a girl

If it turns blue or has no change then it’s a boy.

(We understand the color change may have occurred when using the original Drano product, which now has different ingredients)

If you see any chemical reaction, fizzing and or release of gases these are due to the Drano being mixed with a liquid. As for any color change, we feel like we are repeating ourselves but as with the few gender prediction tests above the any change that happens to the mixture is likely due to the pH of the urine changing the appearance. The pH of urine isn’t a sign to a baby’s gender.

We don’t know for sure this is not a way of gender prediction, but. . . !
