the old wives tale goes. . .
This prediction involves you using baking soda as a make shift gender prediction tool. To perform the test, place a small amount of baking soda in the bottom of a cup then add in a little amount of your urine. If adding the urine causes the baking soda to have a reaction and start fizzing, you are having a boy. If nothing happens other than having wee stained baking soda, it’s a girl.
baby gender test results
This old wives tale comes from the same family as the red cabbage test, in that it’s based on the premise that pH and acidity of the urine that’s added to the baking soda determines a specific gender.
It’s all based on the misconception that acidic urine means you are having a boy and alkaline urine points to a girl. If the test does cause the baking soda to fizz, then this is due to acidity of the urine. If there is no fizzing, it means your urine is towards the alkaline end of the pH scale.
Again it is possible to predict the gender of your baby from your urine (at around week 9), but it isn’t determined by its pH. It would need to be checked in a lab by companies such as easy-DNA.
